September 21st will be here before I know it and I will be walking out of work at noon and ready to finish any last minute preparations for my early morning departure on Sept. 22nd.
After the week I've had at work I am soooooo ready for this vacation and it's still 6.5 weeks away...but then again, I did the same thing last year and went into count down mode weeks before going on vacation! :)
Now for some good trip planning news! In an effort to get a reasonable hotel rate in NYC (yes, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack!), I came across the Washington Square Hotel in Greenwich Village. I found this hotel on a website I recently came across called EuroCheap.com. This website is filled with reasonably priced "boutique-ish" hotels in European cities, however they also had NYC listed, so I took a gander!
And I am glad I did because that's how I came across this hotel's website. With further investigation I found the rate for a twin room was about $235 per night with tax added in the total is about $260...not bad for NYC...and it includes a continental breakfast.
After doing some more checking on trip advisor and reading some of the reviews from people who have stayed at this hotel, it sounds like a good choice, so I booked a room for the one night CL and I will be in NYC on our return from Turkey!
And it gets even better. I don't claim to "know" the city very well anymore, but since this hotel is in "The Village" and I spent much time as a teenage there, I think it will be a snap getting my bearings. And another bonus is that this hotel is on the same street at Mario Batali's restaurant Babbo....hmmm...we may just have to make a reservation for dinner there!
