Happy Easter!

Mom and I celebrated Easter with brunch at the Sunset Grill in Hilton Head. They had a great pre-fixe menu and it was YUMMO! Take a look at what we had...

We started with orange juice and cinnamon rolls and pound cake!

Then we moved onto the 1st course...I had the crab bisque. Mom had the champagne salad
Our second course was excellent! I had the shrimp and gouda quiche....

Mom had the filet mignon with eggs and grits....

And last, but certainly not least was the blueberry and white chocolate bread pudding...YUMM!

Atlanta here we come....

More weekend trips to Atlanta are in the works!

While perusing the Fodors website the other day I came across a post mentioning a possible Fodorite get together in Atlanta. I piped in and said if one was organized I would love to attend since I have never been to a Fodors get together (aka...GTG).

One of the Atlanta Fodorites graciously offered to put it together and now there are about 20 people planning on attending! It will be the first weekend in June, on a Saturday afternoon. A location hasn't yet been determined, but the concensus seems to be a restaurant in the Buckhead area for a late Saturday lunch would be perfect...stay tuned for details on this adventure.

Meanwhile as I was booking a room for the June Atlanta weekend I got to thinking that since its been 2 months since the last Atlanta road trip, it might be time to take another one before June. Especially for another visit to Trader Joe's! No disrespect to my buddies in Atlanta and I certainly hope to see them while there...but the lure of shopping is just another plus! So, I booked a room for the first weekend in April. YAY!!!! Another road trip to Hot-Lanta in 2 weeks! It should be lots of fun!

That's Happy St. Patrick's Day for those non-Gaelic speakers out there!

Savannah's big St. Patrick's Day parade was moved this year to Friday because if they had it on the actual day it would be during Holy Week since Easter is coming early this year. "The powers that be" decided the parade couldn't take place that week.

As the norm, Savannah really "does it up" for St. Patrick's Day and River Street is one huge party during the weekend. That wouldn't have much importance except really bad storms rolled through Savannah Saturday night and caused power outages. The police had to clear out all the people partying it up in Downtown Savannah Saturday night!

Hilton Head had their St. Patrick's Day parade today, and the weather was perfect for it, sunny and clear. I decided to forego the parade and stay inside to fend off the return of my allergies!

More Theater Tickets...and a Brush with Celebrity!

When I started doing research for my trip to NYC in May I signed up for email alerts for discount Broadway tickets with Playbill.com. Every day I get a mailbox full of offers but none really piqued my interest...except the one I got today.

There's a new show opening called Boeing Boeing. It's a comedy and has a terrific cast, Christine Boransky, Bradley Whitfield (West Wing) and Kathryn Hahn (Crossing Jordan). As I scrolled down on the email I could hardly believe my eyes...tickest for $42! For a Broadway show...hey that's much better than the $178 for Jersey Boys.

Yes, we jumped on these tickets. Now we are going to see 2 shows while we're in the Big Apple. We'll see Altar Boyz (off Broadway) at the Saturday matinee and Boeing Boeing on Saturday night...OK, so we may experience a TOD (Theater Over Dose), but since it's been forever since seeing a NYC show I think we will survive!

Since we are going to two shows on Saturday dinner arrangements may get moved around a bit, but with only 3 nights in The City, we can't get to every restaurant we want to try in this one trip anyway....hmmmmm...makes a good arguement for another NYC trip!

Now onto a brush with Celebrity. A couple months ago while at Starbucks one Saturday with CL in walks Robert Irvine, the host/chef of Diner Impossible. You can imagine my surprise when at lunch today at Starbucks with mom in walks Robert Irvine! Two celebrity encounters with the same celebrity within a 4 month time frame and both at Starbucks! We said a brief hello and he was quite friendly saying hello and asking how our day was going.

Hmmmm...2 sightings maybe Hilton Head will be getting a new resident?????

I'm at Wormsloe Historic Site in Savannah, Georgia.

In 1739 Noble Jones, a physician, carpenter and surveyor (he was a multi-faceted man!) began building a tabby house on a frequently used water route that ran past his property.

Today this is a historic site with a beautiful tree-lined entry road and tabby ruins of the original home and the views of the marsh are amazing.

This is part of the Georgia State Parks network.

Context Rome Tours Booked!

In my never ending quest for travel information I came across the name of a tour company that was getting rave reviews on the Fodors website. It's also recommended in the Rick Steves' Rome Guidebook.

The company is called Context Rome (http://www.rome.contexttravel.com/). They also have locations in Florence, Naples, Paris and soon a London and NYC operation will be opening. The company uses docents with lots of experience in archeology and architecture and they also have cultural tour categories as well, think culinary, language skills.

After perusing their Rome tour offerings the decision was made to book the Underground Rome Tour (3.5 hours) and the Rome Market Tour (2.5 hours). Both tours are walking tours and we are now confirmed for both these tours. We are eagerly anticipating learning some interesting facts and experiencing some interesting tastes on these tours.

Gee, can you see a pattern with these Market tours??? I've got one booked for May in NYC, one booked for Nice in October and this one for Rome in December...I think I am starting to become a foodie...well, maybe not a full-fledged foodie...but an appreciative eater! :)

Where in the World is Marcy...

Big light bulb moment today.

My mom and I were having a conversation while visiting a local historic area today. After mom took a picture of me (yes, with the new camera...check back for the picture once I get around to downloading them!) I jokingly said...."Where in the world is Marcy". And then we started signing the theme song from the kids game show "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego". OK, that show was from WAAAAAAY "Back in the Day", but then the light bulb went on....

What a fun theme to put on my blog...so periodically I will post a picture of myself at one of my travel destinations and you dear blog reader can guess where I am. Of course, I won't keep you in suspense, I will let you know where the picture was taken, and in some cases you may recognize the location without me having to tell you.

Hopefully this will bring a bit of fun to my blog and get my "creative juices" flowing for taking/composing pictures!

Italian Commercial....LOVE IT!

I LOVE this commercial...if you speak Italian or not, if you are a foodie or just love cheese and vegetables you will get a kick out of this video...ENJOY
