New York Trip Research Ramping Up!

Now that I'm back from Rome the planning for May2008 New York City trip can begin!

You would think that since I grew up on the Jersey side of the river and spent 2 and a half years working in mid-town Manhattan I wouldn't have a care in the world about taking a long weekend trip to NYC. But not so! I am getting really excited about this little sojourn and have started to do the research.

I've already found and booked what seems like a pretty interesting walking tour with a company called Foods of NY. It's a tour of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District and since I've not been to NYC in 15 years I have no clue about this area because it was not "The In" place to be in the late 80's early 90's! Plus the Chelsea Market is home to the Food Network headquarters which should be interesting to see. This particular walking tour is a combination food tasting and history/architectural tour. The reviews I've read have been very favorable and I am so looking forward to it! :) Here's the link to the tour company's website http://www.foodsofny.com

Mom and I have been scanning the Broadway discount ticket websites and trying to decide on a show to see while we are in town. Right now that is up in the air. We'd love to see the Jersey Boys, but the ticket prices are astronomical. We're talking $178 per ticket! Wicked is a bit less at about $121 per ticket. We've decided to wait another month or so before purchasing because a new show called November with Nathan Lane just opened this week and based on the synopsis it looks funny but tickets for May are not yet available...so we will be patient for now!

Then there is the plethora of restaurant recommendations I am already gathering! Yishhhh! We will only be there 3 nights and there are only so many meals we can eat! :) Maybe we will have to make more than one trip to NYC each year! :)

I'm ready to take a bite out of the Big Apple!
