And so the countdown to Roma begins....

3 weeks from today mom and I will be Roma-bound!  Why does Roma always seem to call us back?

Is it the food, the history, the architecture, the wine, the people?  I've got to say it's all of that.  Imagine walking out of your Roma hotel or apartment and the soles of your shoes are walking in the same path the Romans trodded 2000 years ago.  It boggles my mind.

And the food.  With each visit to Italy and Roma, in particular, I'm learning more and more about how food and wine is entwined into the culture.  How wine is never drunk without eating food, how eating locally and seasonally makes a huge difference in the taste of each morsel.  Embracing quality over quantity is becoming my new passion.

Many people ask me, "why do you always go to Italia?" or, "Why do you always go to Roma?", well, its a couple things.  First, it's because every time I go, there is always something new to see or do, Roma is a big place with lots of layers to explore, seriously what's beneath the current streets can be more interesting than the shiny sports car zipping by on the strada or the latest fashion sauntering by me while I sip a cool glass of prosecco at an outdoor cafe.  Secondly, there is a familiar, yet exciting feeling to be going back to a place I'm getting to know better and better each time I go.

Ahhh Roma...I can see you from my front porch, well, in my mind at least!
