Sometimes I really do think I am not happy unless I have a trip in the works...So why not have 3! :-)
It's just days away from 2010 and I've got 3 trips definitely on the 2010 calendar and seriously considering a fall 2010 trip to Bologna, Italy! I can't stand the thought of a year going by without a visit to Italy!
Here's the lowdown on my 2010 travel plans:
January, a long weekend in Seattle with a day trip to Edmonds for a day full of travel seminars at Europe Through the Back Door. Yes, I will be going to my mecca of travel, the home turf of travel guru Rick Steves. I've got a few Seattle restaurant tips (Italian places of course!) and have made a few reservations on Open Table...I will be racking up the points!
March, a long weekend in the Big Apple...New York City. Airfares weren't great, BUT I found a fantastic deal on TravelZoo at the Affinia Shelbourne on the East Side...$139 a night...total steal for NYC! Theater tickets have already been purchased and I'm really looking forward to the shows...The Addams Family with Bebe Neuwirth and Nathan Lane...Finian's Rainbow... Lend Me a Tenor with Tony Shaloub and Anthony LaPaglia and directed by Stanley Tucci....and last but certainly not least Promises Promises with Sean Hayes and Kristen Chenoweth! Some really great revivals and a fun new show. In a few months I can start planning restaurant adventures and this trip may even see a trip to the Frick Collection/Museum.
May, 2 and a half weeks in Europe...9 days in San Sebastian in the Basque Country of Spain and 9 days in Paris. The Basque portion of the trip is with a Rick Steves Tour the Paris portion will be a do it yourself trip and we've rented a Paris Perfect Apartment...how great is that! The week after Thanksgiving airline tickets were purchased on AirFrance, which is a Delta Airlines partner (gotta get those miles) and they fly into Bilbao and San Sebastian is about a one hour drive from there. The airfare wasn't rock bottom, but it was the flights that were exactly what I wanted and all the flights are on one ticket.
Now I'm mulling over spending a week in Bologna in October...my arm won't have to be twisted too hard to make a decision on this trip! :-)
