Home from Italy and More Trips Planned!

I have been slacking on posting to my blog and getting my Amalfi trip report written since getting home in early May. My excuses run the gambit from organizing the trip photos to planning and booking my other trips this year.

Since returning home I uploaded over 700 photos from my camera, put over 600 of those photos into a Kodak Gallery website album, over 400 of the same pictures went onto the shared photo website all of us on the trip are using and now I need to play around with the photos in photoshop, which I purchased earlier this year and still don't know how to use...it will be initiation by fire! Pictures will be posted here when I write the trip report!

Not only have I become a budding photographer, but in the 2 weeks I've been home I've booked an apartment in Rome for my October trip (and convinced my friend CL to join me and mom on the trip...YAY!), booked flights to New Orleans for a long weekend in mid-November, booked a restaurant reservation for the first night of my trip to San Francisco in July and bought 2 new guide books (one for New Orleans and a food and wine guide to Rome).

I spent what is probably the equivalent of days going through online Rome apartment rental sites to try and find the perfect apartment to rent in October and I'm pretty happy with what I found. After slogging through some pretty "interesting" apartment descriptions I remember Fodorite Ted Gale used a rental company called Rome Capital Apartments for his Rome rental apartment and the pictures I saw of his place were great...so I checked out their website and I hit the jack-pot!

Since there will now be 3 of us (all women) there were a few things I really wanted to have in an apartment...2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and I REALLY wanted to be in the Navona/Campo dei Fiori area. With the apartment I picked, I got it all!!! It's actually a loft, with one king bedded bedroom and then a loft with another king bed that is really 2 twins together...it's perfect... mom can have her own bedroom and CL and I can share the loft bedroom. 2 bathrooms will make getting ready in the mornings easier and BEST of all is the location. It's right between Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori and only a few blocks from Largo Argentina with LOTS of bus and tram connections...PERFETTO!

After booking the Rome apartment, I was on a roll and after much conversation with mom I tossed caution to the wind and bought plane tickets for New Orleans for a long weekend in mid-November. I am so excited to be planning a trip to NOLA. I have wanted to go to this city for a a REALLY long time. I have time before booking a hotel there and I'm hoping that I can get a good deal on TravelZoo or through Hotwire, so I can "cool my jets" with the NOLA planning for right now and go back to focus on the San Francisco trip planning!

San Francisco has so many great things I want to do, but we'll only be there for 3 full days, so I have to focus on the few things we really want to see. Since we'll be in a city with alot of Asian influence I want to have at least one Asian meal. So, I went to my "source" of travel knowledge...the Fodor's message boards and my friend Starrs, who had just been to San Francisco...and they did not disappoint. I got a recommendation for a top Vietnamese restaurant (The Slanted Door) in the Ferry Building. Then turning to OpenTable.com I was able to make a reservation for 8pm on our day of arrival.

So my 2009 travel plans are taking shape...stay tuned for updates...I promise to make more frequent blog entries and of course the much anticipated Amalfi Trip Report!
