NYC Here I Come...

Well, I knew I wanted to go back to NYC sometime in 2009, I just didn't think it would be in early 2009.

Last week I got a phone call from mom saying airfare on Delta from Savannah to LaGuardia in February was a REALLY good deal...my thought was "I am NOT going to NYC in February"!

After much conversation we agreed on checking the airfares for March...the end of March! Lo and behold...the last weekend of March had the same great airfare...after much more conversation and debate, since I'll be going to Italy at the end of April and didn't want to take too much time off from work in quick succession, I booked the flight to NYC for the end of March, for just over $200!

Now that the flights are booked it was time to find a hotel. Since we had such great luck with Hotwire back in November I turned to them again this time. When I first entered our dates they came back with a 4 star hotel in the theater district for $166 per night...I thought.."that's a great deal"...but held off a few hours. When I came back after having done some research and finding nothing else at that star level for less then $200 I entered our dates again into Hotwire and...

BINGO! It came back with a 4 star hotel in the theater district for $162 per night...I snapped it up and once through the booking process the hotel name popped up....and DRUM ROLL PLEASE...we got the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza at Times Square...my old hotel!!!!!! I am stoked to say the least!

Now the hotel and airfare are set I moved onto looking for which shows we might want to see. I had gotten a discount code for Blithe Spirit with Angela Lansbury and Rupert Everett so I booked those tickets and after hearing such rave reviews for August: Osage County I got a discount on those tickets too. So now we are squared away with our theater plans for the weekend.

The very last thing I did the other day was check out the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. We wanted to go here last year when were in the city, but both times we just didn't have the time. Now, our Saturday morning/early afternoon will be spent doing 2 tours at this museum, each one hour long...we're really looking forward to this museum.

I've even managed to book our Carmel Car service pick-up and drop-off so, the only other "to do's" on my NYC trip list will be restaurant reservations, which I will do via OpenTable.com but I have to wait for a month out before I can book, but I've already been scoping out potential restaurants and have at least one new one we want to try.

Stay tuned for the NYC trip report in March!
