"Do Not Let GREAT Be the ENEMY of Good"!....My new mantra

OK, so here is another blog entry that does but doesn't really start talking about my Central Europe "romp".

I read this blog title entry on the Fodor's website, so I am giving credit to whoever was the original poster on that website, but let me tell you....I have definitely adopted this as my personal mantra. Especially for the Central Europe trip, but I am also making the effort to incorporate it into my everyday life. Let's hope it works! :)

Let's face it, "Don't Let Great Be The Enemy Of Good" is a great motto. Think about all the times we look forward to something, it could be a trip, or it could be a special event or special dinner or whatever special thing you might be doing or special object you might want to purchase.

And you are getting all hyped up about that "special thing" and your expectations are getting greater and greater until you have some grandiose thought in your mind about whatever "it" is and how it will effect you or your life.

Then you experience that special event/trip/dinner and you think to yourself, yeah, it was fun, it was nice, it was a pleasant experience, but it wasn't "GREAT". It maybe could have been "more this or that". But on the whole it was still good. This is where this new mantra of mine comes in.

Things can still be good and enjoyable, but because of what we have imagined it to be has been elevated to such a high status in our own minds it ends up not being the "GREAT" thing we thought it would be. But it was still "GOOD", and you still might still be happy you did it and it may still have been a fun/good experience.

So, sure, go ahead and keep doing all the things you want to and keep your imagination churning, but when that event or thing is good, it's still good, and just because it may not have been "great" doesn't mean it was awful!
